It is very important that teachers have the ability to access proper tools and resources for classroom management which can be done through permission settings in NCEdCloud. This will guide you through the basics of access management as a teacher, from creating accounts to granting permissions in new or existing accounts.
Types of Permissions Available
In NCEdCloud, teachers have different permissions for each of the job the have to perform. Sometimes they needs special permissions to do something. Common permission types include:
- Student Information System (SIS) – View student grades, attendance, and enrollment data.
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) – CANVAS and Google Classroom for lesson plans, assignments, feedbacks etc.
- State Assessments – View and manage student performance on state tests.
- Technology Tools – Access to software, such as digital textbooks, tools for virtual learning, and attendance monitoring systems.
Steps to Manage NCEdCloud Permissions for Teachers
Permissions are managed by an administrator but teachers should still know how to request any changes and check or edit their permissions.
1. Log into NCEdCloud
Login to the NCEdCloud portal and enter your username and password.
2. Check Current Permissions
You can view your permissions once you are logged in by clicking on your profile or checking the Roles section in portal. It is displaying all educational tools and features that you can use.
3. Request Changes to Permissions
If you want additional access, request to be added as an administrator. Follow these steps:
- Step 1: Contact your school’s IT department or administrator.
- Step 2: Describe the permission you need specifically. This could be for instance a new learning platform you need access to.
- Step 3: The admin will update your permissions and you should be notified when the changes have been made.
4. Review Updates Regularly
If your job has been changes, you will need extra permissions. For example, if you have been promoted to a grade-level coordinator, you will need to have access to new educational and administrative tools. You should always check the permissions you currently have and verify if you have all you need.
Why Do Teachers Need Permissions?
Compared to students or administrators and other Privileged Roles, teachers have different jobs. If teachers want to do their job accurately, they need certain features and permissions in NCEdCloud. For example, a teacher will require access to:
- Access student grades in PowerSchool.
- View attendance records.
- Update course information in digital learning platforms.
- Submit lesson plans or classroom reports.
A teacher having complete permissions and resources is very important because without the correct permissions, a teacher may not be able to perform these tasks and this will lead to problems in classroom management.
